We have the pleasure to introduce Angelo Collins who comes from Cape Town. Angelo draws his
inspiration from his surroundings which is echoed in his music with relevant lyrics; essentially, a
commentary of the world around him. He sings with a passion that reflects in his music and dance moves
that are distinctly unique. Angelo is redefining the South African RnB/Hip Hop dance and music scene, by
not trying to emulate the American popular culture of Hip Hop, but by staying true to his roots and keeping
it real, South African style.
Angelo’s beginnings were humble; he grew up in an underprivileged community in Bridgetown on the Cape
Flats, where he learned to harness his passion for music and dance. It was here that Angelo was first
recognized for his passion and skill by the small community he was part of, which supported him by
booking him for his first small shows.
Angelo has enjoyed great recognition as a talented artist, performer and choreographer. To date, Angelo
choreographed for Danny K, performed in the 46664 concert and the Usher Tour; Angelo was the
choreographer and judge for Channel O’s reality dance competition Dance Africa; he choreographed and
danced in music videos for artists such as, Mandoza, Danny K and Leanne & Lebo Mathosa; and has
performed in the South African production ‘Chicago’, which was showing at Artscape Theatre in Cape
Town and Monte Casino in JHB.
Having already had one music video “TODAY” air on Channel O, MTV Base, Angelo is now embarking on a
new project the launch his Debut Album “TODAY’ in October 2008. One must note that Angelo is no
newcomer to singing and songwriting, having already collaborated with Lebo Mathosa in 2004 and 2005.
Angelo’s style of music is a mixture of beguiling beats and melodies with genuine lyrics and an infusion of
passion.
Angelo’s drive isn’t just restricted to performing arts. Angelo’s passion for people led him to search out and
train 30 aspiring dancers, which formed the group “Crazy Lock Entertainment”. Angelo also hosts annual
workshops where his skills can be passed onto those who wish to learn.
In the future, Angelo hopes to open his own Music & Dance school where aspiring artists can realize their
potential and grow, personally and professionally. He would also like to mentor these young rising stars so
they can find new careers outside of the underprivileged communities.
In 2008 Angelo be appeared on the following shows “ So you think you can Dance” where he did the
choreography for the couples, on Saturday 04th & 08th October on SABC 1 and Hectic Nine 9 on SABC 2 on
Friday 10th October where he performed live.
