It often happens that some of the most beautiful melodies and compositions in any country or language never see the light of day commercially. Either the composer is unknown to the broad public, or it simply disappears amongst the masses of other commercial releases.
With this CD, executive producer Albert du Plessis, producer and arranger Mauritz Lotz and Gert Bekker consciously sought out some gems in the treasure trove of light rock, pop and cabaret. The songs have been accessibly arranged and produced by Mauritz Lotz. The terms of reference are non exclusive and Gert Bekker comfortably sings in Afrikaans, French and Flemmish.
The opening track, "Miere" is an easy going modern pop number. Track number 3, "Girl" is a light rock song with an addictive chorus, composed by Myburgh Grobbelaar after being dumped publicly on TV by his fiance Jacky, sitting out her time in the "Big Brother" house. Some Jacques Brel and Stef Bos numbers round of the CD with luxurious live string arrangements.
Gert Bekker gained a following during the past few years especially in small theatres and restaurant theatres in the Pretoria environment, where he has become known for his versatile one man shows. Some of the best known professional talent will accompany him on stage when he introduces his CD to the public. Mauritz Lotz (Guitars) will direct the band consisting of Denny Lalouette on Bass, Bruce Wallace on Drums and Jaconel Vey on Keys.
